After months of hard work the committee have finalised their programme. The Festival is a celebration of the arts in the community combining both professional and amateur local talents. It includes an art exhibition, drama, many types of live music, poetry, local history, comedy night, magicians, children's entertainment, canal boat trips to the allotments, a wide range of exhibitions, competitions, displays and much much more. Something for everyone, even the dog as there is the hotly contested dog show.
The scarecrows will be in the village during the week running up to the Festival and then travel to the Festival site at the QE 11 Diamond Jubilee Field for Saturday and Sunday. This site has the event marquees, arts tent, arts & crafts and farmers markets, refreshments and lots of free daytime entertainment.
There are lots of ways to get involved with the Festival. Competitions include the art exhibition, photography with the theme Architecture, a Festival Treasure Trail or bring your dog to the dog show. If you don't have chance to enter any competitions, most have a public vote for you to choose your favourites entries. If you have a few hours to spare the Festival team would be delighted to welcome you as a volunteer.
As ever the local businesses, organisations and the wider community have very generously supported the Festival in many ways. The Grand Festival Draw has fabulous prizes including vouchers for meals out and treats and goodies to enjoy in the village.
Printed programmes will be delivered to local homes at the start of June and the box office will be open in the Forge Shopping Centre every Friday and Saturday from 12th June. It then transfers to the QE 11 site for late availability tickets on the Festival weekend.
