Volunteers form a big part of the workforce for the charity and without them the charity could not survive. As we come into Summer, additional volunteers are needed to help in the shop on Saturdays and Sundays, assisting customers in a retail environment, working on the till and showing visitors around the scenic Walled Garden. The work will also include helping in the pop up tearoom serving drinks and cakes to visitors to enhance their visit to the charity.
The shop is an important part of the charity’s fundraising activities and having warm and friendly volunteers on site is critical to its success. The shop sells a range of goods including local produce, plants, wooden crafts, recycled bicycles and upcycled furniture. All profits from the sales are re-invested back into the charity to allow it to support its beneficiaries, creating a better environment for their work and further outlets to develop their potential.
Full training will be given to volunteers and if you would like to build your skills in a friendly environment and support the great work that the charity is doing, please get in touch with Karen Gillooly in the first instance on 07970 100659
If you can’t make the weekends but would like to volunteer throughout the week there are always opportunities at the Walled Garden, as well as at the charity’s other site, Long Lane Garden Centre. During the week, the charity needs enthusiastic volunteers who may have skills in or a keen interest in horticulture and gardening, woodwork, furniture renovation and upcycling and bicycle maintenance.
