Following on from a very successful 2014 Christmas Fair, the Friends of Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden are pleased to announce that they are holding this event again on Sunday, 29th November 2015 between 11am and 4pm. at Witherwin Ave., Grappenhall Heys,Warrington, WA4 3DS. Admission free.
With 46 Cask Ales to be sampled, various Ciders and Wines available, plus complementary soft drinks for designated drivers, the 5th annual Culcheth Beer Festival was, once again, a great success with 860 attendees, many true Connoisseurs of the Hop and others who just enjoy a sociable chat with family and friends in a convivial music filled atmosphere. This year we are delighted, once again, to thank all our Sponsors for their unfailing support, particularly Hunter Healy, accountants in Culcheth, who in addition, provided music for us on Friday evening, The Essential Guide to Culcheth, the Culcheth Life magazine and the Scissor Sisters, hairdressers from Leigh, who, on Saturday evening pulled pints in a most attractive and smiling manner (Ask the male clients). But, all this effort would count for nothing, if you, OUR EVER GENEROUS PUBLIC did not come through the doors. So,
THANK YOU TO ALL 860 WHO CAME
HELPING US RAISE £8500.00 FOR ROTARY CHARITIES
With still more money pledged, the final sum will be higher. We will keep you updated and now invite “good causes” to apply for financial consideration. Thank you also to the new “Friends of Rotary” group who have volunteered to help with future such events. If this idea interests you, why not join; there is no obligation but to help occasionally, if convenient to yourselves. Please use the contact number below!
Preparations for the next year’s Beer Festival to be held on Friday 9th & Saturday 10th of September, are already under way, when we hope to surpass this year’s statistics :-
2500 pints of ale drunk,
525 pints of cider quaffed,
480 bottles of beer supped,
27 bottles of wine sipped.
Again the weather was kind to us and brought in the crowds. The show was opened by Mary Greenslade, Deputy Chair of Woolston Parish Council.
Knights American Cheer were first in the main arena, with an excellent display of agility and balance.
The main attraction in the arena this year was the Shadowquest Dog Display Team, who gave a demonstration of dog training. This is mainly done for security services, such as the police, but the public were encouraged to use some of the training methods with their own dogs, such as teaching obedience.
Over 190 people from across Warrington ran, jogged or walked to raise around £8,000 in vital funds for the Stroke Association, at the charity’s Resolution Run.
