The Friends of Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden are holding a Food Fair on
Sunday 11th September, 11am to 4pm.
There will be the usual excellent locally produced food on sale, including pate, fresh meat, sweet treats, Mediterranean delights, tasty pies and quiches,cheese, preserves, Walled Garden produce and more.
Admission is free and the Fountain Room Cafe will be open serving delicious hot and cold food and beverages.

At the last meeting of Newton & District Jubilee Rotary Club, incoming President David Hill took the over the leadership. David is assured of the wholehearted support of the Members and we wish him well as the Club continues to work for the local community, and worldwide. The Membership will, as always put “Service Before Self” in supporting deserving causes.
What a treat the 2nd Rossendale Scout Group Band gave their audience at St. Wilfrid’s Church in Grappenhall Village . From the moment they paraded in to the music of The Conquest of Paradise right through to the final arrangement of Bare Necessities from Jungle Book the Band under their conductor, Graham Helm, entertained the audience brilliantly.
Visitors are invited to a summer of wild activities at RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands.
Throughout August families can take part in ‘What’s that wader?’- a self-led trail to discover more about the wonderful variety of wading birds that can be found on the Dee Estuary. Normal admission charges apply to non-members, no additional charge for the event. Available 9.30 am-4.30 pm daily in August.
On any day Explorer Backpacks are available to hire, full of everything needed to discover more about the creatures that call Burton Mere Wetlands home. No booking required, cost £2.50.
To end the month, the ‘Wild Wednesday’ event on Wednesday 31 August will give families the chance to get up close and personal with the tiny creatures living in the mud. From shrimps, to worms, to beetles, they provide a feast for the various wading birds that make their home on the reserve.
